Dr. Charles-Harris joined leaders of the Haitian American Nurses Association (HANA) in a conversation about Breast Cancer, an excellent eductional opportunity for the community. It was aired several times in October and November and translated in both Creole and English.

Survivors Celebration, 27 October 2011
Dr. Charles-Harris was invited to MC this very beautiful event hosted by Jackson North Medical Center. In celebration of the women (and men) and their families who are surviving Breast Cancer, the evening was a special event filled with devotions, dedications, and dancing. Many thanks to all those who made the event unforgettable. Survivors: we celebrate you!

Breast Cancer Awareness Community Education
Dinner with the Doctor, 25 October 2011
A large crowd joined Dr. Charles-Harris for an evening dinner and discussion at North Shore Medical Center educating the community about breast cancer awareness and treatment. Promoting early detection and healhy living, Dr. Charles-Harris gave an informative talk and answered audience questions. Many survivors were there and shared their stories, includng a proud breast cancer survivor who had breast cancer surgery with Dr. Charles-Harris over 8 years ago! Live well!

Breast Cancer Awareness Healthcare Professionals and Community Education
Evening with the Doctors, 18 October 2011
Joining a panel of experts, Dr. Charles-Harris spoke about the current developments in the prevention and treatment of Breast Cancer. From how to do a breast self-exam, to how to raise your odds to prevent it, to why a biopsy may be necessary and how to treat it if diagnosed, it was a very informative discussion. The evening, hosted by Jackson North Medical Center, was a free event and open to the public and well attended by both community members and healthcare professionals.

"Current Concepts in Breast Cancer" Symposium
Jackson North Medical Center, 27 May 2011
In his role as an FIU Professor, Dr. Charles-Harris joined six other Professors from Florida International University and University of Miami to hold a CME event discussing the modern treatment of breast cancer. It was well attended by medical professionals in the community.
Dr. Charles-Harris focused on Minimally Invasive Breast Biopsies, procedures he specializes in the diagnosing of breast cancer. In line with national standards, Dr. Charles-Harris' practice statistics reflect a 20% diagnosis of cancer for patients referred to his practice for surgery when diagnosed with a breast lump or abnormal mammogram/ultrasound.

TV Interview with Channel 10's Kristi Krueger
Prevent Gallbladder Attacks During the Holidays!
On December 22, Dr. Charles-Harris was featured on Channel 10 in a discussion about the Gallbladder and symptoms to look out for which may lead to the need for surgery. While having performed thousands of these procedures laparoscopically with very tiny incisions, his patients recover quickly and no longer experience painful episodes of abdominal pain.
Watch his informative interview, learn about the importance of healthy eating (especially around the holidays) which may help prevent the need for surgery, view pictures of diseased and impacted gallbladders, and meet Dr. Charles-Harris' very satisfied patients who underwent Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy!
